Artist Open Call: Terms & Conditions

1. Eligibility

This open call is for artists of African and Caribbean diaspora/heritage, aged 18 or over, based in the United Kingdom.

Applicants can be at any stage of their career (emerging, mid-career, or established).

2. Submission Requirements

All applications must be submitted via the official online form by the stated deadline (14 September 2025, 23:59 BST). Late submissions will not be considered.

Applications must be complete, including all requested supporting materials (e.g., proposal, portfolio, biography, budget).

Submitted work must be the original work of the applicant and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, or intellectual property rights of any third party.

3. Selection Process

All applications will be reviewed by a selection panel including the Rapport Festival team and Youth Co-Curators.

The selection will be based on the published criteria of artistic innovation, community impact, and alignment with the festival’s mission.

The selection panel’s decision is final.

4. Intellectual Property

The artist retains full copyright and ownership of all submitted work and any resulting commissioned piece.

By submitting an application, the artist grants Rapport Festival a limited, non-exclusive license to:

Use images, video, and text from the application for promotional purposes related to the open call and festival (e.g., social media, website, press releases).

Reproduce images, video, and audio of the final commissioned work for the purpose of documenting, promoting, and archiving the festival, including (but not limited to) use on our website, social media channels, and in press and marketing materials.

Any future use of the commissioned work beyond festival documentation and archiving will be subject to a separate agreement with the artist.

5. Commission & Fees

Selected artists will receive a commissioning fee as outlined in the open call brief.

The fee will be confirmed in a formal contract.

The fee is inclusive of all artist fees, VAT (if applicable), and any expenses unless otherwise explicitly agreed upon in writing.

Payment will be made in instalments, typically 50% on signing the contract and 50% on delivery of the work, as per the agreed schedule.

6. Data Privacy

The information provided in your application will be used solely for the administration and selection process of this open call.

Your data will not be shared with any third parties unrelated to the festival without your explicit consent.

7. Important Notes

Submission of an application indicates acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

Rapport Festival reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the open call at any time.

Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications, we cannot provide individual feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
